My book The Ecological Plot: How Stories Gave Rise to a Science was published by the University of Virginia Press in 2024. For ten years I served as an Assistant and then Associate Professor of English at Allegheny College, where I offered courses on topics ranging from environmental literature to Victorian science fiction. I left academia in 2025 to pursue writing full time.
